TODAY'S WEATHER ACROSS AMERICA By Mark Vogan

Crazy Thunderstorms Rage around hot high pressure which is sending temps towards 100° from DC to Philadelphia right now!

The below graphics are the current temps across the East Coast and it's brutally hot out there, dangerously hot! Strong to severe storms are blowing up over the Ohio Valley just now and pushing eastwards, clearing out the air behind it. While it reached a near record 95° yesterday at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, powerhouse thunderstorms rolled through during the overnight hours thanks to a front which has whipped out the hot, steamy air and replaced it now with near autumnal air. It's currently 53° in Chicago right now while it was well into the 90s at this same time yesterday....

Greater DC and surrounding area current temps

Here is some videos from those thunderstorms last night across Chicago...

TODAY'S WEATHER ACROSS UK & EUROPE By Mark Vogan

Unusually chilly night over UK with frost possible in areas

BBC UK Forecast

BBC Europe Forecast

Your Regional 72-Hour Forecast across Europe!

Wednesday through Saturday

United Kingdom
Trough/low keeps UK cool and unsettled with sunshine and showers, some of which are heavy, thundery and with hail. Highs for Scotland range from 14-16C overall, England 14-16C in north, 18-21C in south.

Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Finland)
A large trough over UK to the west of Norway and an upper low north of the Black Sea is forcing a warm, upper ridge up over Norway, Sweden and Finland. The upper troughs both west and east of Scanbdinavia wilkl help pump the ridge in between over the next 48 hours bringing unseasonable warmth.
Oslo which will be on the outer west edge may range from 22C in sun to 19C in the showers Thurs/Fri. Stockholm 24C in sun both Thurs/Fri and Helsinki 20C Thurs and 25C Fri, 24C Sat, all sunny days. Interior, central areas of Norway, Sweden and Finland could see highs reach between 28-30C.

The majority of the European mainland is at risk of showers and storms. Where the cooler air meets the warmer, there may be long-lived heavy rains and strong thunderstorms...

Central Europe (Germany, Poland)
From Thursday through Saturday, there will be very little change in the weather pattern as western Germany sits beneath the boundary between cooler, unsettled weather and eastern Germany sits beneath warmer, more settled weather. Highs reach 1-22C from eastern France and western Germany where heavy rains and T-Storms likely. Further east, temps range from 23-26C across east Germany and Poland over the next 48 hours.

Eastern Europe (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belorussia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria)
With the exceptions of southern Spain, S. Italy and S. Greece, the warmest air across the continent will be fed up from the south and over the far eastern European countries. Though T-storms are always possible, especially with daytime heating. Skies should be mostly sunny with highs ranjge from 24 to 30C from Istanbul to Sofia north through Kiev, Riga and up to Tallinn.

Looking ahead at early next week

It appears the trough and upper low remains dominant feature over Great Britain, keeping temps down and skies unsettled with persistent sunshine and showers. Southern areas are always likely to see the longest spells of sun and highs pushing 21C. The trough spreads into central areas of Europe, dropping temps over central, north Germany and Poland and creating cloudier, cooler conditions.

A new trough and cold pool drops into NW Russia by Tuesday, Wednesday at the same time pressure heights build across Spain, France and across the heart of mainland Europe. This weakens the high and warmth across Scandinavia at the same time heat builds across the mainland.

Sunshine and Warmth may return in 7-10 days across UK, including Scotland!

As for LATE NEXT WEEK (Thursday into next weekend), I expect ridging to rebuild back up over the UK, pumping heat from Spain up into our region.. Yes, we may have summer return 7-10 days from now...
