Long standing Midwest records falling with early June Heat wave

BREAKING NEWS: MINNEAPOLIS TOPS 101 DEGREES WHILE CHICAGO TOPS 94 DEGREES, BOTH READINGS ARE THE HOTTEST READINGS SINCE 2006!

It's the record rain-producing California trough that is responsible in pumping the upper level ridge from Texas to the Dakotas, Minnesota and into the Lower Midwest today and producing upper 90s as far north as the Twin Cities! Chicago, Ill may in fact reach 94 or 95 this afternoon and if it surpasses 94 and goes higher, this would be the warmest high year in some 5 years.

The core of this heat will shift east and we will see mid to upper 90s spread up through the I-95 corridor where we may see 'upper 90s' as far north as Philadelphia or even Trenton, NJ on Wednesday as the trough continues pushing the pattern and trough-ridge pattern eastwards.

As NT points out, AS-1 continues to puzzle and baffle forecasters, international forecasters. As is known, this system has "tracked" several differentroutes on the forecaster's models. But where is it actaully going to head, or how much is it going to intensify ? Again, international models have been toying with this system's future for the last 10 days now, and As-1 has been teasing the

"know-alls" by waxing and waning alternatively. Read more on our partner's blog here!
