SCOTLAND AND UK WEATHER
Low Pressure Dominance brings continued downpours but changes may be on the cards

Although you may be sick of the heavy rains that move in fast and frequent giving us a soaking even if just dasjing from ther house to your car or whether it be the horrible driving conditions it produces on the roads, this isn't unusual and in fact typical of the time of year... However, changes may be on the way as forecast models show a dip in the jet stream that has been parked over our heads and been sending low after low over us for the past few weeks (and much of summer in fact). The low pressure train appears as of now to be heading south by the start of next week and this may allow a high that's over northern Europe to migrate westwards and cover the UK and control next week's weather.

The big thing however is that with the arrival of this high and although it should bring plenty of sunshine there are two things that may be a fly in the ointment.. 1) The air will feel a lot colder than it already feels I'm affraid and 2) I wouldn't be surprised that with any precipitation that arrives embedded with this high that it falls as snow down to perhaps a few hundred feet.. Daytime highs may struggle to climb above 6-8C that's the mid to upper 40s, and sure enough in this type of air mass, if skies remain clear and winds light (which they likely will be since it's high pressure), we're likely to see the first real cold nights, perhaps lows dropping into the mid-20s for even the Central Belt and perhaps -6 to -8C in the Highlands (that's upper 10s to low 20s F)... Yes the air mass though will likely provide good spells of sunshine, we may find ourselves bundling up in the first really crisp air of the new autumn season..
