Severe Weather Outlook for the 4th of July Weekend 2011

First, let me start off by pointing out that it currently appears there will be no widespread "outbreaks" of tornadoes or severe thunderstorms for the 4th of July weekend, which is certainly good news.

With that said, severe thunderstorms are possible within the areas outlined in yellow on the following images.  First, for today, Saturday:

....and for Sunday:

...and for Monday, the 4th itself:

Large hail & damaging winds will be the primary threats with this activity, however isolated tornadoes also cannot be ruled out from any particularly organized storm.

In addition, wherever you see the black wording "See Text" on the images, there is also a chance for thunderstorms to approach severe limits in & near those areas...

So, relax and enjoy the holiday weekend.  Keep a NOAA Weather Radio or other form of receiving severe weather warnings handy if you live in any of the severe weather outlook areas, and keep an eye to the sky during the late afternoon & evening hours should threatening weather approach your area.
