AMERICAN HEATWAVE OF 2011 DOESN'T LOOK TO BE EASING ANYTIME SOON AS HIGH PRESSURE CORE SHIFTS BACK TO CENTRAL PLAINS

After roasting the Northern Plains and Midwest mid last week and the East Coast late week and into the weekend, the heat core will shift back into the Central Plains and towards the Four Corners, this means no relief in sight anytime soon for the severe drought-stricken Southern and Central Plains states. Even when the high was centered over the midsection, over Missouri and Ohio Valley, pressure heights above North Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas where so strong, combined with super arid ground forced continued 100s. In fact highs in south-central Kansas and north-central Oklahoma have repeatedly topped out at between 105-110 degrees. Amazing considering the high pressure center was to the northeast. It's the extremely dry ground that's helping those temperatures to really rocket once the sun rises in the sky during the morning hours.

No Break in Sight from the Grueling Heat in the Plains
