Weather Talk

The temperature has been dropping all day in Scotland

After a chilly day of strong, cold winds and some very intense rain showers that moved across the country today, our temperature topped off at 61 degrees (16C) by late morning when skies were sunny at times, but as colder air continued to be ushered in by strong, whipping winds which made for a very autumnal feel and look as it felt raw all day and leaves are being ripped off trees that are noticably thinning out.

Tonight, my temperature has dropped to a current level of 48 degrees with a stiff breeze kicking up at times, providing our first taste of "wind chill", which feels that much rawer to the skin when we've had days in the 60s and feeling pleasant in the sunshine. We may fall away tonight if winds lighten up and skies remain relatively clear to near 40 degrees by tomorrow morning and I did mentioned last week about how this would could bring the first taste of autumn with trees bending in high winds, heavy showers that blow through and a real bite to the air. That was certainly the case today!

Tomorrow may bring a day where the high remains in the 50s and I really wouldn't be surprised if through this week we see our first night in the 30s for the month of September as the colder air has been pushed down from the north and is in place, all we need is clear skies and a relaxing of those winds and we'll find ourselves grabbing a winter coat as well as the scrapper for the car!
