Severe Weather Update - Tulsa Metro Area

**Update at 10:56 PM CDT:




A line of severe thunderstorms is moving into the Tulsa area at this time.  The white circle on the right half of the above radar image shows an area of 60-70 mph wind gusts as estimated by the radar at this time.  This band of damaging winds will move East/Northeast across the Northern half of the metro area during the next 15-30 minutes.  Strong, gusty winds of 50-60 mph are possible across the remainder of the metro area.


Large hail up to 1.25 inch diameter is also possible with this storm.


If you live in the path of this storm, seek shelter indoors & stay away from windows until threatening weather passes.

Above is the latest image from the Tulsa area radar near Inola, OK.  A line of severe thunderstorms is moving toward the city at 35-40 mph.  Damaging winds of 60-70 mph are indicated by radar.  Several reports of 1 inch diameter hail have also been received with this line during the past hour. 


At present rate of movement, this line will impact the Tulsa Metro area between 10:30 and 11pm CDT. 


Damaging wind gusts of 60-70 mph and 1 inch hail can be expected with this activity.  If you live in the path of these storms, seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows.

The above image was just taken from the Tulsa area radar near Inola, OK.  A severe line of thunderstorms is moving East toward the city...currently at 35 mph.  Radar indicates widespread winds of 50-60 mph, with localized gusts to 70 mph in association with this activity.


Based on the present location and movement, severe thunderstorms can be expected in the Tulsa Metro area around 10:30 PM CDT.  It is possible that this line will accelerate Eastward during the next 30-45 minutes, in which case the severe weather threat may arrive earlier than currently expected.


If you live in the Tulsa Metro area, please take action now to secure any loose outdoor items that could be carried away by strong winds.  Be prepared to seek shelter immediately as this line approaches during the next 45 minutes to one hour.  Hail up to 1 inch in diameter is also possible with this line of storms.
