THE ROLLERCOASTER SPRING PATTERN RULES UK-W. EUROPE
A lot cooler across the UK and even across much of Europe but the warmth will return between Wednesday and Thursday where London may top 22C by Thursday
After a wet, unsettled day up here in central Scotland, tonight we are seeing heavy rains push through and driven in by gusty winds. Further south and a few locations across England topped 20C in the sunshine with Writtle, Essex being the warm spot at 20.3C which is a very pleasant 69F and the warmest UK high of 2011, shaving out the previous warmest UK high which was reached way up on the Moray coast of northern Scotland at Lossiemouth which hit 19.4C or 67F.
As for tomorrow (Sunday), well areas further south of here will be under those heavy showers which we are currently enduring tonight up here in the Central Belt. These showers, associated with the latest front will continue progressing southeastwards through tonight and tomorrow and a large portion of England will see 'April shower' type rain tomorrow. Those showers will be pockets, rather than widespread rains, it really is a pattern of sun, showers and mild air which fits the time of year now. One day is warmer than the next and so forth.
Tomorrow I think the UK's warmest spots may only top 16, perhaps 17C around London. Down thanks to those fronts that have rolled in from the northwest Highlands and spread down across the UK, pulling in some of that cooler air from the north Atlantic.
In the coming days however, while it reaches a chilly 10-11C here and that 15 to 17C down to the south, warmer air will once again push northwards in about the midweek time frame where here between Glasgow, Edinburgh and down towards Dumfries it may reach 15, perhaps even 16C Wednesday through Friday whilst further south highs may in fact reach the 21C mark from Manchester to London with a potential 22C high on Thursday in London.
