Weather Talk
By Mark Vogan

Is the approaching hurricane season ready to fire up early?

It appears some modelling has a system over the western Caribbean within the next 15 days and looking at sea surface pressure forecasts as well as the rapid warming of the Gulf, it may not take all that much to see firing up of storms not all that long from now.. The Gulf has seen the most rapid rise in temp over the past few weeks than anywhere else in the Atlantic basin so that is very interesting.

There is a lot of material and video now showing up regarding hurricanes and the oil spill and what might happen, this is certainly a topic I will be discussing very soon.. (hopefully within the next few days).

I shall be continuing to talk more and more about the "cane season" and shall also be organising a hurricane blog which should be released on June 1st.... Stay tuned.

Arctic air drifts east of Britain.....

It looks as though the Arctic air mass that held it's ground for about a week is finally shifting east and allowing a ridge over the North Atlantic to progress towards us and this should allow temperatures to warm ever so slowly. We are likely to see a return to 70 degrees over southern Britaijn this weekend but Scotland looks to be under the gun for more showers, scattered clouds and periods of sun for the forseeable future with highs only hitting the mid-teens....
