northeast
Today the Northeast won't see as nice a day as yesterday and this is because the nasty weather that was over the nations midsection and Ohio Valley yesterday has finally arrived. Today, showers and storms will effect most areas from New England to DC with stronger t-storms forecast for the Mid-Atlantic from Philly to DC as the air warms into the 80s. For areas from Trenton to Boston, skies should be mostly cloudy with rain showers likely through today and into tonight, highs range from around 80 at Trenton to low 70s for Boston. Marl's City-Cast as follows. Washington-Baltimore area, Hi range from 84-88, Lo 68-73. Philadelphia, Hi 82, Lo 70. New York City, Hi around 75-77, Lo upper 60s. Hartford, Hi 74, Lo 65. Boston, Hi 72, Lo 62. The good news is, tomorrow we should see skies and rain clear out, providing a warming trend into the weekend for the entire region.
southeast
For you folks in the Southeast today, it will remain on the muggy side, however we should see cooler temps, albeit slight as the core of the Bermuda high has pushed off the Southeast coast.Yesterday saw mid-90s across the interior Southeast, whilst it was generally in the lower 90s from New Orleans to Mobile. For south Georgia and into north Florida, the worst of the heat was found, bringing highs between 100-103 degrees. Today the worst of the heat will be over central Florida where highs will top the mid-90s again. But the Gulf Coast should see highs range from 88-92 and generally the same from Montgomery to Charlotte. Dew points will still run well into the 70s creating still very uncomfortable conditions, but, what can we expect at this time of year in the Southeast eh? Thunderstorms blew up strongly and acrioss a large across from Tennessee to New Orleans and from there all the way across and down Florida! The same risk will be had today, so anywhere in the SE, T-storms can't be ruled out.
northwest & southwest
A trough and storm system effects Seattle, down to Portland and across to the Northern Rockies. Highs running generally in the mid-60s along the coastal Plains, 70s to low 80s east of the coast range. The Desert Southwest will be hot with highs ranging from the 90-98 above 4,000ft and around 98-104 for points below 4,000ft. Points near to below sea level including Needles, Palm Springs and Death Valley may range from 104-107 today with Death Valley topping 110. Mark City-Cats as follows. Phoenix, Hi 104, Lo 82. Las Vegas, Hi 102, Lo 79. Los Angeles, Hi 76, Lo 61 (morning cloud & fog). Interior areas will see little cloud.
northern plains
A MUCH better day on tap for the Northern Plains and Midwest. In fact you couldn't ask for better, widespread 80s from North Dakota to Wisconsin with mostly sunny skies acrosss the board. Mark's City-Cast as follows. Chicago, Hi 85. Minneapolis 84. Minot 86, Denver 90 and St Louis 90. Lows should raun from the mid to upper 60s in rural areas. Low 70s in urban areas.
southern plains
Another hot day under mostly to completely sunny skies with highs ranging from 92-94 degrees from San Antonio to Houston to 95-100 from Lubbock to Dallas. Gulf Coast areas should see highs between 87-92 with dew points in the mid to perhaps upper 70s, providing HI's between 102-110 from Corpus Cristi to Sabine Pass.

The pieces have fallen well in place, with the trough off the western coast of India, embedded with a vortex off North Maharashtra coast, producing the heavy rains predicted, and moving the monsoon northwards into south Gujarat and all of Maharashtra. The limit of the monsoon is seen in the 200jet stream map.Easterlies indicate the monsoon limit normally.
Some of the heavy rainfall figures of rain recorded on tuesday(day n night) for Konkan coast are (in cms):
Sangamneshwar-23,Khed-15,Dapoli-13,Chiplun-12,
Mahableshwar 14cms, Dahanu 11cms,Ratnagiri 10cms, Mumbai S'cruz 9cms and colaba 8cms
The lakes of Mumbai too recieved very good rainfall on Tuesday, a boon to the city:Vihar-16, Bhatsa-7, Upper Vaitarna-5, Tansa-4, Tulsi-3,Vaitarna-2.
For Mumbai, heavy rains were predicted on this blog,,Monday thru Wednesday,At least a week in advance."Vagaries of the Weather" had estimated 23cms of rain Monday thru Wednesday for the city, and the actual rain recorded was20cms at colaba and 18cms at S'Cruz, till Wednesday evening.
And flooding and water logging and gusty winds was anticipated. The tall claims of the authorities have fallen like a pack of cards,in spite of the fact that flooding was expected.More than 20 low lying areas in the city were flooded knee deep, and Walls have collapsed.Landslides in Thane have led to much damage, and importantly, loss of lives.
Same old story!Forget the hoodwinking of the Shanghai story!Better would be a Venice promise,it will be easier !
The off shore trough will hang on, but the vortex off Mumbai, I expect, will cross inland. The result should be some torrential rains in North Madhya Maharashtra on Thursday.
On Wednesday,
Highest in Asia:Basrah(Iraq):50c
Highest in India:Patna:42c
