WINNIPEG, MANITOBA AS WELL AS MUCH OF SOUTH-CENTRAL CANADA, NORTH-CENTRAL USA REMAINING MILD AS COMPARED TO RECENT TIMES, BUT COLDER, MORE SEASONABLE AIR SET TO RETURN!

Skywatch CTV Winnipeg, Manitoba Forecast Today at Noon!

ALBERTA IS BALMY!! IT'S VERY MILD, CURRENTLY RAINING IN EDMONTON, WHILST IT'S 10C IN CALGARY!

Yes, it's warm across much of Western Canada and mild even over the Prairie Provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba with highs reaching comfortably above freezing in such cities as Calgary and Edmonton and near freezing in typically frigid Winnipeg, Manitoba where a high of around -3C is expected today. The warmest high of January, 2011 so far is -2.8C and was recorded on the 25th. Since the warmup commenced and produced highs of -2 and -7C, the warmest high in the city was -8C on the 13th. Most high's this month in Winnipeg ranged from between -12 and -20C. The warmest low so far was -10C. The coldest being -35C.

Last month saw the warmest high top -2C and the coldest low -30.9C. The last time Winnipeg has seen an above freezing high was on November 16th, 2010 with a high topping 11.7C!

Rain and Freezing rain have effected and created problems across Edmonton.. It's amazingly, it's 10C at the moment in Calgary.

All this being said, there is a trough that counteracts the bulging ridge over western Canada that's the culprit of all of this midwinter warmth and we're still seeing colder conditions from Ontario eastwards, although the cold has eased somewhat over the past 36 hoursd after seeing highs range from -17 to -25C from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City. Lows fell to between -20 and -35C.
