WINTRY SHOWERS FOR HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND, WHILST NAGGING CHILLY BREEZE AFFECTS REST OF UK

There are times I do need to stop what I am doing and double check the calender. Yes.. it's nearing mid-May and we're talking wintry showers over the Highlands and highs of only 8-15C across Britain, those in eastern Scotland and east of the English Peninnes should continue to expect a cold northeast wind off the North Sea and highs barely managing 10C. At night, anywhere with clear skies and light winds should expect lows near freezing with frost forming with ease. That is remarkble for so late now, yet because we have a trough in place over our atmosphere and thus delivering persistent waves of ARCTIC AIR across Britain (sounds like a broken record since December doesn't it) we continue to see cool days and downright cold nights! When there is no wind and the sun is shining, it actually feels pleasant but heck it's May 9th, what do you expect? Yes I know..... however my ideas are that this kind of weather will eventually snap and we will see true warmth... This can't last forever and there are some things with this kind of weather that brings me comfort... (1) it's a fairly dry pattern which could help later down the road and (2) at this point last year, as good as it was... we were nearing the end to "summer" by this point, sure we had 70s and even an 80 degree high right around this time last year, by June and July, summer was OVER as wet, cool, dreary weather set in for ther remainder of summer. We didn't have a summer in 2008 or 2007 either... At least with this chilly air, it can only get better, eh?
