Special Story By Mark Vogan
90s today from DC to Philly, upper 80s for NYC
As the trough digs and pushes eastward, we see the warmth which baked Texas into the 90s to 100 degrees for the nations high at Kingville, TX yesterday, the crisp, cool and wintry weather persists across the Rockies.. It's all about summer-like warmth now for the Eastern states which have seen cool, dissapointing weather return after a blistering warm period at the start of April. That warmth has once again returned as the ridge progresses east, baking the Plains yesterday and now the core of warmth centered from Atlanta to NYC where highs may top 88-90 degrees today all the way to NYC.. It appears DC to Philadelphia have the best chance to see 90 and perhaps an 87 to 88 for NYC. Perfect weather to get outdoors and enjoy a swim in your backyard pool and even invite neighbours round for an evening BBQ or party as temps will remain in the 70s well into the night, perhaps only dropping to around 66 degrees for the low from particularly Richmond, Va to Philadelphia, Pa.

Tomorrow will remain hot and humid with even warmer temps than today as the flow gets pumped northeast from the deep south as the trough pushes and presses the ridge, pumping it up and forcing the heat to rush towards New England... As for the lower to mid-mississippi valley strong to severe thunderstorms are likely, so stay tuned to your local weather station for all the latest updates.

Weather Talk
By Mark Vogan

This weekend has seen a chance in the large-scale weather pattern across the western hemisphere as the deep trough and highly amplified pattern progresses eastwards with winds packing 150 mph in places where temperature contrasts are greatest, we are seeing troughiness across the UK bringing very cool air for May 1st, whilst the Northeast US is experiencing upper 80s to low 90s from the Southeast to Hartford, Ct. Meanwhile out across the country the severe weather complex zone is also migrating east along the the overall flow and will eventually within the next few days reach the Eastern Seaboard, allowing high pressure to build back across the West Coast allowing LA to once again see 80s and likely 90s for the coastal Valleys and 100s for the deserts of the Southwest.. Does this mean this progressive pattern where troughiness is replaced by warm, high pressure cells mean the UK is in for high pressure and a return surge of warm, sub-tropical air from the central Atlantic? Perhaps as we push from early to mid-May we may see warmer, more settled weather return.
