TODAY'S WEATHER ACROSS AMERICA By Mark Vogan
MAJOR THREAT OF VIOLENT TORNADOES THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM N-CENTRAL TEXAS TO KANSAS
IF YOU LIVE IN AN AREA FROM CENTRAL TEXAS NORTH THROUGH OKLAHOMA AND UP INTO CENTRAL KANSAS, PLEASE PLEASE BE ON ALERT FOR RAPIDLY ALTERING WEATHER THROUGHOUT THIS AFTERNOON AND THROUGHOUT TONIGHT.
Major 'twisting and turning of the atmosphere with height' over top of a super warm, moist surface will create the atmospheric perfection that creates massive and devastating tornadoes.
As you can see from the above graphic, a large area is within the danger zone today with the extreme danger zone shaded in WHITE centered from Oklahoma City north into central Kansas. If you live in this area, you are urged to stay constantly with a TV or radio as you have all the ingredients for extreme weather.

TODAY'S WEATHER ACROSS UK & EUROPE By Mark Vogan
Scotland sees 36-hour break of 'high winds but those return Wednesday night ahead of next Atlantic low, Remains warm over Spain, slight cooling over Germany, Poland etc
While the persistent trough remains anchored in place over most of the UK and keeps us showery and breezy, the heat remains cranked up across Europe. However, there are a few slight changes. A little trough of cooler upper level air has dropped south from Scandinavia and into Germany, Poland and surrounding central European countries. This raises the chance of showers and thunderstorms but and also takes the edge of the heat that we've seen so persistent over the past 10-14 days heat as the strong and broad upper ridge has pumped heat from Spain and NW Africa all the way across the mainland of the continent and been strong enough to keep away the trough over the UK that so desperately wants to head south and east. Widespread unsettled weather remains over eastern Europe and this 'showery' weather becomes more active during the PM hours as temperatures build into the mid-20s C. Western and south coasts of Turkey have been warming nicely into the upper 20s to even low 30s C with showery conditiions confined the the interior mountains.
Throughout Spain and France (except northern France), it's been actually bordering on hot as highs along the French Riviera have risen to 32-34C, meanwhile Spain has almost everywhere been reaching around 29 to 34C as high pressure builds.
Tomorrow night will see the next Atlantic system ride in on a vigorous Atlantic jet, bringing wind and rain to central and northern Britain. The high over France will once again, hold the majority of the weather north of London, though skies will be overcast with outbreaks of rain at times.

Yesterday's Storm over Scotland was exceptional for month of May, would have done January proud!
Official Gusts of 105mph and there are unofficial reports of gusts clocked at an astonishing 150mph over the Cairngorms Mountains
SOME HIGHLIGHTS
-50,000 out of power.
-20,000 still without power this morning.
-The entire town of Inverness was without power at one point
-Forth Road Bridge was COMPLETELY Shut to all traffic
-Countless trees and powerlines down
Gusts roared beyond 60mph across all parts of the country yesterday with 'most' places encountering 70mph gusts. These gusts combined with trees in FULL LEAF stage meant many got blown down. Had this been midwinter, many of these trees wouldn't have been downed.
As for the power, well, I believe it's down to a huge temperature spraed. Both exceptially cold air to the nortwest and the core over Greenland and exceptionally warm air over France where we saw a difference ranging from -36C to 31C. Push a storm in between and this very contrast intensifying the jet stream and you've got the perfect environment for rapid deepening of a low pressure system.
