TODAY'S WEATHER ACROSS AMERICA By Mark Vogan
Volatile Weather coming together once again
TODAY WILL SEE THREE AREAS OF T-STORM DEVELOPMENT
1) North of the surface low which is positioned over E. Colorado, so the N. Plains will see showers and some storms with the odd one becoming severe, but this will be few and far between.
2) The secondary area will be over the Carolinas and Virginia where the warm front is located which is from where the low is located, east, southeast to the NC/VA line.
3) The third and most likely severe weather producer will be along the dryline today which currently sits north-south from Amarillo to San Antonio and storms will likely and are currently firing up along this dry-moist boundary.
Background to current weather map
A surface low, located across E. Colorado awaits the arrival over top of an upper low that remains behind it. When the two come together, this will ultimately kick off a new severe weather outbreak across the Southern Plains and into the Mississippi/Ohio valleys tomorrow through the late week time frame. What will become the cold front is currently a stationary dry line and only when the two lows stack one on top of the other or close to it, then that front will become activated and the appropriate upper-level dynamics will be in place just as much as the hot, humid air flowing up from the south at the surface.
The heat will once again be on across the Southern Plains with more 90s and 100s as the dry line remains far enough to the west that heat can be transported north, northeastwards from the Mexican desert as the trough drapped across the West has dropped south enough, to excellerate that south, southwesterly upper flow all the way to Nebaraska where it topped 100 degrees there yesterday.
A large storm off the NE coast has a refreshing northerly flow blowing across the Northeast and at this time of year, it brings pleasant sunny skies and comfortable temperatures. This dry, Canadian air means no humidity!
So, to sum things up. Though the three areas mentioned above for thunderstorms today may see some faurly strong to locally severe, IT'S TOMORROW THAT WILL SEE THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MORE WIDELY AND DEVELOP MORE EASILY across Texas, through the South and up into the Ohio Valley, with the upper low meeting and stacking over top of the surface low. I shall have more details tomorrow so check back here tomorrow.

Warmth Continues across MAINLAND of Western, Central and Eastern Europe with High Pressure Dominating
High Pressure though continues to be forced east into central Europe. The warmth and the sunshine will continue to force 5-20F above normal temps up into northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and the heart of European Russia where daytime highs are soaring to 20-27C. High further south are in the 22-27C range from Paris, Brussels, Rotterdam, Copenhagen eastwards to Moscow, though it may be closer to 20C in the Russian capital but further north, highs are soaring way way above seasonal values.
As for the UK, while the southeast, still enjoys patchy sun and highs beyond 20C, this is fading as the trough continues to erode heights aloft and even London which is closer to a continental climate than anywhere else in Britain and 9 times out of 10 enjoyes the best weather in all of the UK will see showers increase and temps decrease back into the 'cooler' 18C territory.
Northern areas of England and Scotland will continue unsettled with fast and at times furious showers rush in on a strong to at times gusty southwest wind. Highs topping 14, 15C.

Antarctica enduring -60sC while Northern Hemisphere continues to heat up!

As the Northern Hemisphere continues heating up and you may already be either tired of the heat, thunderstorms or all the talk of it. Well, just as we get excited about the long, lazy days of summer, BBQs and wearing the shorts and shades, to the south of the equator, winter is just as rapidly approaching, days are growing shorter as temperatures drop off accordingly.
Thee harshest place on the planet for cold, Antarctica is most certainly enduring those famed chilly numbers.
