TODAY'S WEATHER ACROSS AMERICA By Mark Vogan

CRAZY WEATHER ENGULFS US
SEVERE WEATHER RAKES SOUTH, BLIZZARD FOLLOWS MAJOR FLOODING IN DAKOTAS AND MINNESOTA!

MISSISSIPPI AND ALABAMA IS TODAY'S HOTBED FOR TORNADOES,

MULTIPLE TORNADO WARNINGS ARE CURRENTLY IN PLACE IN MANY COUNTIES ACROSS MISSISSISSIPPI AND ALABAMA

With the front swinging in from the west, the warm front sweeping north and allowing an open door to hot, humid air to flow freely north from the Gulf, it's Mississippi, Alabama and even Georgia that eyes some of the most violent weather this afternoon and evening. The dynamics are fully in place and we've already seen tornadoes touchdown today already!

TOMORROW IT MAY BE FROM SOUTH CAROLINA TO VIRGINIA

By tomorrow, the front will have progressed further east with areas 'north' of the warmth front seeing a widespread area of cloud with heavy rain falling beneath them. This rain of which could well be heavy and thundry will stretch from western Pennsylvania south into West Virginia and eastwards all the way to DC and Baltimore. From there all the way north towards Canada! This entire area will see at least some rain but most will see a substantial soaking.

As for an area from eastern Georgia, up through most of South and North Carolina and much of Virginia will be in the sector that Mississippi and Alabama as well as Georgia and up into Tennessee finds themselves in today. The front push their way from the west and the warm front to the north that's moving north is pulling in the hot, humid air. A strong upper jet stream, powerful circulation from the storm to the northwest etc will create turbulent skies today and in the stated areas tomorrow.

Nasty weekend of rain for Northeast

Unfortunately, it will be a wet, dreary weekend for Mid-Atlantic and Northeast residents, yet again! With the front pushing into the region, this will bring widespread rain, locally heavy as well as quite windy conditions also. The air will be relatively cool with highs in the 60s, the severe weather should remain south of Washington, but here some storms may be embedded within the large-scale cloud and rain.

VAGARIES OF THE WEATHER
INDIA & SUB-CONTINENTAL ASIA WEATHER
BY RAJESH KAPADIA

A3 chugs into the Sub_Continent. Definetly no links with railway timings, W.D.s arriving bang on time.

On Friday,15th, we see A3 clouding a major portion of North and Central Pakistan, NW India and extreme North India. Rain/snow has been reported from all these regions.

Light rains measured 5-7 mms in North India and Pakistan.

Earlier, A2 had formed an induced low, in the plains of N.India, and from this low, a trough, or call it a line of wind discontinuity, ran all the way southwards into Karnataka. This trough, normally travels, or shifts eastwards , along with the movement of the parent W.D. But, in the current case, its South end is steady.

Stretching thru the central regions, this line had brought extreme thundershowers in M.P, interior Mah, Karnataka and in parts of Kerala too. In fact, it was rather heavy on Thursday in interior Karnataka, with Renebunnur (Haveri Distct) receiving 101 mms of rain.

Vagaries' forecast of thunderstorms along the trough and in Vidharbha on thu/fri/sat held good. Vidharbha too got its share.

Akshay* narrates from Nagpur on Friday evening-Quote: " a very severe thunderstorm hits nagpur with frequency of cloud to cloud lightning over 100/min.

Scanty rains but bright lightning enough to make night as morning."

It seems, A3 too, is tending to follow this trough line routine, and could result in thundershowers in central and southern interiors again, next 3 days.

The meeting of east-west winds along this line, is voilent, and results in massive build up of CB clouds, reaching great hieights, created by near perfect CAPE and L I conditions. Ajekar, in interior Karnataka, had a hailstorm on Thursday.

The negativity of this? This will continue to keep the day temperatures down, below the normal heating range required for this time.

More of this in MW-2 , which will be put up on Saturday night. READ REST HERE!
