IT WAS A TOASTY ST PATRICK'S DAY FOR MUCH OF USA YESTERDAY

It couldn't have been a better day for Karen and myself taking the 1 hour, 10 minutes trek into New York for our first experience of St Patrick's Day in the USA. There was no better way to witness this day than to walk to bustling, green filled streets of Manhattan.

Under brilliantly sunny skies and not a cloud to be seen we walked from Penn Station up to West 57th where I visited WCBS (CBS News) and then walked up through Central Park to enjoy the warm sunshine.

After taking a look at Stawberry Fields we headed down towards 5th at the Plaza and enjoyed watching some of the parade, it was a truely great atmosphere.

HIGH'S YESTERDAY RISE TO 88 AT OK CITY, 89 AT AMARILLO, THIS HEAT TO REACH EAST TODAY!

Yesterday was a warm day overall with the core of the heat roasting the nations midsection with highs topping 67 degrees at Chicago, Ill, 83 degrees at St Louis, Mo, 79 degrees at Kansas City, Mo, 88 degrees at Oklahoma City, OK, 89 degrees at Amarillo, TX. The warmest was found at Vernon, TX where the high topped 96 degrees.

Up and down the I-95 highs soared to between 60-65 degrees with warmest readings found between Washington DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia. The core of that Plains heat will shift eastwards through today as both the high pushes east, a front approches from the west and those winds blow harder out of the southwest, this will allow potentially mid-70s from Washington DC up to Philadelphia whilst Newark, NJ may close in also on 74-75 degrees. Central Park in Midtown NYC may reach around 70-72 degrees by this afternoon.
