A return to 50s, even 60s to Texas & Oklahoma After a Frigid Week

The below two graphics show just how cold things were across the Southern Plains this past week and if you live in this region, you certainly don't need a blogger in Scotland to tell you this. Highs which didn't even reach 10 degrees in many panhandle Texas, Oklahoma towns and struggled to reach 20 degrees in many other north and central Texas towns saw a rapid rise today with 60 degrees being reached as far north as Amarillo which didn't top 9 degrees earlier last week and fell at night to -5 and an even more brutal -13 just to the north in the town of Dalhart. After the all-time record breaking cold high of just 15 degrees in El Paso, Texas, the high warmed to a very nice 58 degrees today! (See the bottom graphic for today's highs). Unfortunately, once the Super Bowl is played at Arlington tomorrow and things return to normal for another workweek across the Southern Plains, it appears a return to cold, snow and ice is highly likely from Tuesday through the rest of the week as another polar front swings southwards out of Canada and down the Plains, Stay tuned for upcoming details!
