WEATHER TALK

TOASTY WEATHER CONTINUES, SET TO GET EVEN WARMER ACROSS AMERICAN HEARTLAND BUT CHILL LOOKS LURKING AND SET TO RETURN IN COMING DAYS!

As you can see from the above graphic created by AccuWeather that the sledge hammer of winter is set to return after a wonderful period of warm weather that arrived after one of the toughest two-week periods of winter over the Southern Plains in living memory. Highs warmed as high as the low 80s over western Oklahoma, even Kansas, the same areas which saw lows dive well below zero just 5-6 days ago. The problem is, it's still a little early to put away the heavy coats, scaves, hats and gloves, especially over the Northern tier which will enjoy low 50s in such cities as Minneapolis and an amazing and rare 60 in Chicago today.

The above graphic created by The Weather Channel is of yesterday's warm highs which ran from Mexico all the way to Minneapolis, Minnesota and even up to the Canada border with International Falls reaching a warm 48 degrees. It could easily be below zero for highs still at this time of year!

SEVERE WEATHER SEASON LOOMING!

Unfortunately, it's getting close to that time of year once again where with all this warm weather reminding us that spring and summer is fast approaching, especially nice this year since winter has been so tough on so many, however the current late-winter heatwave that millions are enjoying over most of the Lower 48 is the very warmth that will trigger the severe weather season which may actually start off NEXT WEEK given the fact that we are set to see colder air push south and is starting to show itself in Montana with highs in the 10s today but with warmth remaining into early next week over the south and south of an east-west jet stream that will flow over the central Plains, this will create a fight zone. The pattern is showing the transitionary signal towards a springtime pattern. Note the above map temps for today, see the teens again showing for highs in Montana? What we're likely to see in the next 3-5 days is the 70s, even 80s to persist from New Mexico into Texas and up into Oklahoma, perhaps even southern Kansas whilst colder air will ride south out of Canada and with a strong Pacific storm set to dive into Central and Southern California it will swing east across the Heartland next week and with plenty of cold air back across the north and warmth over the Southern Plains, bingo! Tornadoes are likely, but stay tuned and please enjoy the very warm February weather today, especially for folks up in Chicago and the Ohio Valley all the way to New York City.

In Nepal, normal life in Humla district has been affected due to heavy snowfall. Several places in the district received snow up to four feet. Roadways have been blocked and regular movement of the people has been hampered due to heavy snowfall.
