Nepal:
The precipitation from the waning W.D. spread eastwards into Nepal on the 31st.(See Vagaries forecast for 31st.).
Snowfall has taken place in many mountainous and high hilly districts from Thursday night.
According to the Department of Meteorology, snowfall has taken place in high altitude areas of Myagdi, Mustang, Dolakha, Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla and Humla.
The temperature in some parts of Jumla has gone down up to -5c, while that in Mustang was -2c.
Normal life has been adversely affected in the districts due to the snowfall.
Khatmandu received 3.7 mms of rain till 1st. Morning. The high was 19.5c and 7.6c was the minimum.The highest rainfall/snowfall was in Jumla, which measured 15.2 mms.
Snowfall has been reported from upper regions of Sikkim.
The eastern Himalayan states too received rains/snow.Reports reaching from different regions said that Sandakphu, Phalut, Sree-Khola, and the Tigers hills have been covered by snow.Darjeeling had been experiencing freezing cold condition for past five days. But latest snow fall and rains in the lower region since Friday night dipped mercury to -8c in some of the areas around Sandakpu and Phalut.
Pakistan:
The upper parts of the country were in the grip of foggy conditions on New year day as the traffic on the highways was stopped due to non-visibility. Dense fog, after recent wet spell, has enveloped most parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.
Persisting dry cold spell reduced minimum temperature to -10c in Quetta, the main city of Balochistan. Water froze in taps and drains causing difficulties for the people.
Temperatures in Sindh have also dropped, with Sibbi dropping to 2c and Karachi to 7c.
Islamabad may drop to 0c or -1c tonite.

With a colder northerly air flow back over Britain, it felt colder. The high was experienced early in the morning and as the day went on, so the temperature contined falling. Mid-afternoon readings we're at 34 and 33 and by 4-5pm, it was down below freezing, registering 31 with light frost and ice forming.
