Tropical Depression Eight Forms - No Threat to U.S.

The disturbance we've been watching for the past few days was finally deemed Tropical Depression Eight yesterday evening. It is currently located 55 miles Northwest of Cabo Gracias a Dios, or 330 miles East/Southeast of Belize City.

Maximum sustained winds are estimated at 35 mph, and the minimum central pressure is 29.71 inches of mercury.

Tropical Depression Eight is currently moving Westward at 12 mph, and a general West to West/Northwest motion is forecast to continue through landfall over the weekend:

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is currently forecasting the system to become a Tropical Storm overnight tonight or early Saturday morning, prior to landfall along the coast South of Belize City early Saturday morning.  If this indeed takes place, the system would be named "Harvey".

This system will not pose any threat to the United States.
